Comparing Paris Hilton’s “Stars Are Blind” to Kim Kardashian’s new single

Billboard.com recently posted an article titled “Kim Kardashian vs. Paris Hilton: Whose Debut Single Sold More?”

It was reported that Kim Kardashian’s new song has had 14,000 downloads in its first week, compared to Paris’s “Stars Are Blind” which sold 52,000 copies in its first week. Kim’s song was unable to hit the 75-position Digital Songs chart, whereas Paris’ song launched on the Digital Songs list at #10 and hit the #18 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

To be fair, Paris is a more serious musician than Kim. The latter has said that she didn’t mean to record a song and mostly did it for fun. She’s not planning to release an album, and unlike Stars Are Blind, I don’t think her song was not released on a major label like Warner Music. Paris has been taking vocal lessons even before she became famous and has spent countless of hours working on her voice and songs. So it is not quite fair to compare Paris to Kim music wise.

Billboard also mentioned that Paris’ debut album has so far sold 197,000 copies in the US, but they failed to mention that more than 600,000 copies have been sold worldwide.
