David Letterman Interviews Paris Hilton (Feb 1, 2008)
New Interview!
David Letterman apologizes to Paris Hilton about last time. Then, Letterman asks her “what do you want to talk about?” lol. Paris says “I’m here for my movie.”
Paris mentions that her shoe line is going to be released next week.
This time, however, Letterman takes the list of her projects and starts reading it lol. He later puts the paper aside (obviously he wasn’t very interested lol), and suddenly, he jumps to the real boring subjects (just my opinion), which are about family, boyfriends and blah.
Check out high resolution pictures of the interview at Keminications!
Good interview!

that was not a good interview.
he kept bringing the jail up again,
though he wasnt going into full deatils it kept coming up.
it was so obvious Paris was feeling really awkward and uncomfortable.
David showed no interest in what she was saying,
even laughing at times.
this was NOT a good interview, it was utter rubbish.
and I honestly think Paris should not go on that show again because that is just pure shit.
doesnt anyone else agree?

mr scot I completely agree with you. I can’t believe that in interviews Paris has said her Letterman appearance was a positive experience. Was I watching the same interview that she’s been talking about b/c to me that was anything but a positive experience. He kept bringing up the jail thing, wouldn’t leave it alone, showed Paris absolutely NO respect, etc. I really think it’d be in her best interest to never appear on his show again. He’s an ass and doesn’t deserve to have her on his show.

i guess i disagree. I think he was very nice. we have to remember that dave is a wry, sarcastic humorist, but in a playful, fun way. So given what happened last time, he had to mention it and explain the situation. I think he did so in a very nice, self-deprecating and apolegetic way. All the while, he portrayed her in a very possitive light including the video of her arrival that played before and after the interview sequence.
He also gave her a chance to talk about a list of things she has going on. And he was a gentleman, I thought the flowers were nice. Dave can be silly with his guests, and sometimes go a bit further than is comfortable for them (ie what happened in their last interview), but he isn’t really mean-spirited, he just gets carried away. i think that’s why paris came back on. They always had positive interactions before that, he had apolgized to her and was sincere about having her back.
Other stars that he offended in the past, like Cher and Oprah, waited for years, even more than a decade to go back on. So I give paris props for accepting his apology and having the guts to go back and brave a second chance for him and her.
Given that, to me, it was positive and a fun way to move forward.

Much better than last time, although I still thought he was being a bit of an ass at times (guess I’m just not a fan of his technique) and I can’t believe he really didn’t know how insensitive and pushy he was being last time.
No matter how many times I’ve seen Paris look so incredibly gorgeous and radiant, she always manages to top herself again. It’s impossible to get jaded about this girl, lol! Paris herself still got a few digs or comments about the last interview so I think it was still a bit of a sore point for her and she wanted to make sure he knew not to make the mistake again. She was nice and bubbly though and got in a few more “off script” quips than usual. Great job to the ever classy and professional Paris Hilton, ladies and gentlemen 😀

he laughs AT her several times in this interview.
to me, it isnt a playful interview.
he wasnt messing around, he was being a right ass.
several times when she is talking you see him looking off in another direction or just showing no interest.
he looks bored when he reads her list of what shes got coming out
and laughs that she has more then just one perfume out.
he laughs when shes talking about several of her buisness ventures.
she also does a couple of things which i have seen her do in other interviews were she is uncomfortable.
she looks around and begins bouncing her leg.
now if Paris herself is getting incredibly uncomfortable, how is it a good interview? we didnt find out anything we didnt already know. it is a bad interview.

points taken all around,
I think the jail thing will always be a sore spot for her, as well it should be especially given the circumstances, it’s understandable and natural. like i’ve said before, jail is extremely traumatic, especially when the person knows they don’t belong there. then add in the claustrophobia, the solitary, the death threats, the in-and-out fiasco, etc, etc,. no doubt paris had it pretty rough. rougher than most.
yes, she does “bounce” her leg when she is uncomfortable, but still she’s learning to deal with it and overcome it. I’ll always give her props for having thicker skin and more balls & class than people want to give her credit for.
i guess we didn’t learn much more because we’re fans. although the average person probably learned more about her than they knew if they don’t really follow her more closely like us. but paris also could have given longer answers. she normally gives short answers in all her interviews, even when the interviewer is giving her plenty of time to expound and is not rushing her. sometimes the interviewer seems caught off guard by how short her answer is and has to scramble to ask the next question.
for all the interviews she does, i’m surprised she hasn’t learned to give more complete answers or to just take the time to say as much as she wants or anything she wants. you should alwys make the question work for you. it’s really a lesson from Interviewing 101 – make the time your own. but again, I’m not really criticising, just offering a bit to improve. i think she does this because she is basically more shy than most people know and this is a skill she is still mastering.
all in all i still think it was a good interview and has healed their relationship. she was gracious and classy enough to accept his apology and move on. it shows her charachter and nature and speaks more highly of her than if she had just held a grudge and never returned to his show. Also, notwithstanding the last interview, dave has always been good to her during their many interviews in the past. (he reached out to her during the whole ric salomon fiasco.) we’ll see how the next one goes. i don’t think he’ll mention jail again.

Certainly a MUCH better interview than last time. I loved how Paul steered Dave to be good. And for Dave, he was.
If Paris brought more to the table, like a clip from an upcoming GOOD movie. But esp if she sang a song, Dave would show her mad props.
I have to mention this: Did anyone hang around to see the closing music selection? The Vampire Weekend. They are new and being touted as something hip & hot.
PARIS should have been the music guest. She promised she would come back and sing for him back in summer ’06. Just doing karaoke, she would blow the Vampires and most of these hip new bands off the stage. Paris has more charisma & spunk. The Vampire Weekend song was boring, & they had no stage presence. And then Dave came over and excitedly congratulated them.
I don’t know if she’s just taken so much shit she’s afraid to sing live on TV. Screw the general public. They’re never going to give her a chance. But the live audience there on Late Night would be different. They were in her corner last September. They would be excited Paris was putting herself out & on the line, and would cheer her on. It would be wonderful.
You have to take risks to be recognized for greatness. She has greatness in her. Gotta let it out LOUD.
