Thanks Repo! & thanks too to The Hottie And The Nottie!

– TJI: Paris won 3 Golden Raspberries last night! …Who didn’t see that coming?

She won Worst Actress for THATN, Worst Supporting Actress for Repo!, and Worst Couple for THATN.

Well, at least she gets to keep up with Lindsay, who won 3 Raspberries herself last year for I Know Who Killed Me.

It’s not fair, and it is ridiculous, but at the same time it means people cannot stop paying attention to Paris. And while it is not nice, in a way it is an homage and tribute to her. She is a star, like her or not. They don’t give lots of awards to nobodies.

But in the end it is not her fault except in making bad choices. Her directors and the projects are to blame. Both were doomed from the outset, mistakes in the making.

I know I am in the minority here, but just because I complain it is not that I don’t love Paris. I love her so much I hate to see her waste her talents on crap.

She is an awesome showgirl. Her debut album is beautiful. She is the best club hostess there is. She is a live performer. She needs to do her own club tour. She is her best role, and she needs to go out and play it out on stage.

But what do I know.

thewaymouth,

It wasn’t the result of bad decisions or mistakes by Paris or directors.

She would’ve “won” those “awards” even if she were the greatest actress of all time. The voters (more accurately, the haters) didn’t vote for her based on her acting performance or the movie.

But yes, I guess those awards are in a way an homage and tribute to her. I know what you mean!

Let´s face it: Paris is always selected just for being Paris. She could go up and play Goethe’s Faust extraordinaryly and she would still be nominated. Why? Because she’s already rich and does not deserve to have a talent. Second, the only people who would spend their times voting for it are hardcore haters.
Third I think that no kind of award (Oscar, Razzies, Gramies, Tony, BAFTA, whatsoever) reflects wich works are good and wich are not. Who have the last word about what’s good and bad anyway? A bunch of frustated critics dealing with mid-life crisis. should we care about their opinion? I don’t see why

damn, sold out! well, i guess i “snoozed” too long, but on the up side, it means a lot of interest in this disc! hopefully it will be out again before being on amzon, if we still get a 10$ off coupon, it’ll probably be cheaper. my only hope is still for a complete disc set, with every single song on it.

thewaymouth, I think it’s pretty outrageous what you said. Both of these films meant a lot to Paris. Hottie was the first film she took seriously, and even though at first I totally wanted all knowledge of this film to be distanced from Paris, like admin noted, This was a bit of a passion project for Paris. She helped produce it, she took a lot of time to get better at acting and she gave it a good effort. Yeh, it wasn’t the best script but she gave a decent performance and anyone who reviewed the film fairly said Paris wasn’t the problem, they actually said she wasn’t half bad, it was the script.

I am more so annoyed that you called Repo a mistake. Repo, while not a financial success, it was a major success for Paris, for the art community, for the movie community, for so many people. It may have received awful reviews but people love this movie, it’s their life, all you have to do is check out the forums to see this. It has such a deep place in so many peoples’ lives and thanks to this movie so many more people appreciate Paris. She had NOTHING to gain from this movie. She wasn’t getting paid a lot to do it, it wasn’t going to be a huge success (while being filmed everyone thought it was direct to DVD) and the only reason Paris really had to sit though hours and hours of make up each day, learning choreography, learning songs – doing a whole lot of stuff was for her to be artistic, for her to be an actress and be involved in something she personally felt was special.

Razzies are bullshit, even if Paris is in an Oscar winning movie she would still get a Razzie. They PERSONALLY hate her, it has nothing to do with the movie, it’s her name. It’s really quite horrible they do this to her because it makes film makers run in the opposite direction when they see her. Paris is a decent actress and given the chance (like in Repo!) I’m sure she could shine and bloom into maybe even a great actress but just plain nasty bullshit like getting a Razzie nomination hurts her professional career as an actress. It instantly tells you the movie will at least get one Razzie nom, probably a win.

I don’t even know who this John Wilson is and how he is an expert on anything.

Cameron Diaz and Jessica Alba were mention by him also. But of course the websites focussed on Paris Hilton’s name.

Everyone else ignores the “razzies” and Paris can do the same.

Waymouth and a few others are just posers – acting like fans when their goal is to tear Paris down.

Backhanded compliments fool no one here.

thewaymouth is definitely not a poser, Jen. I know him well enough to know that he has always been a hardcore Paris supporter and fan. He didn’t like the Hottie and Repo!, though.

I’ve been following this site almost since i’s begining and I remember thewaymouth being an active, suportive member from as long as I can. Just because he did not like the movies and didn’t agree blindly with her, it doesn’t mean he wants to “tear Paris down”. Please, nobody would spend that many time on hating (actually there are this kind of people, but they would spend their time on voting for the Razzies, not on a fan site.)

Thanks for the couple of people who spoke up for me.

It’s one thing to disagree but to question people’s motives and integrity when they are just being honest. I mean I could question the taste and mental capacity of anyone who likes Repo! and THATN. Never mind, MBFF – more crap but at least it’s a financial success. But I don’t play that mind game. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

If you folks are fans of Repo!, THATN and MBFF, enjoy it. I haven’t shit on anyone for doing so, nor will I. But being a fan does not mean being fanatic to the point where you have to swallow wholeheartedly everything your idol throws your way. Like the singer of my all-time favorite band The Clash, Joe Strummer said, even the greatest of artists make shit sometimes, him and The Clash included.

When I said Repo! and THATN are mistakes, that is my opinion. If Paris is proud of her work and those projects, it’s good that someone is. And if there are a few people out there that like one or both films, good for them.

Never mind the Razzies, Repo! and THATN are considered by most movie critics to be among the worst movies of the year. But like Math said, it’s subjective. But neither Repo! nor THATN are hits. So they garnered neither critical nor financial success. That’s the way it is. But I make up my own mind, like admin said. I didn’t like either movie. Now “Paris” the album was not a big critical or financial success. I thought it was the best album of the year. I wrote newspapers, was published on record, and I told Paris so. Oh yeah. I wrote her in prison several times. I have the autographed picture she sent me later right here in front of me.

Just because I am against some of her project choices, that does not mean I question her talent or her commitment. Paris went out and pushed Repo! and THATN hard. I respect her for doing so.

I am just a fan who is waiting for her to tour as she has promised several times. I have written her many times, reminding her of this, and have given many reason why it would be her biggest and best success.

I make and offer my opinion on the art of Paris. I am not sitting in judgment at the Paris Nuremberg Trials. I am not here to judge Paris the person or her fans, even the ones who judge me.

“You have no right to judge me… Because it’s judgment that defeats us.” – Marlon Brando, as Col Kurtz, in Apocalypse Now.

I offer no judgment of Jen as a person. As far as her words go, she has thrown her BS at me before, so she can suck it.

I’ll just add that as long as I’ve been reading and commenting here, that thewaymouth has been one of the most passionate and creative supporters of Paris. I don’t agree about putting the blame for those movies’ critical reception on the movies themselves (we’ve all seen how much of the media will turn on anything involving Paris for the sake of it and few of the people who vote would actually have bothered to even watch the movies in question) but that’s no reason to brand him not a real fan. Not every real fan loves everything (I’ve expressed doubts or disappointments with some projects too and anyone who wants to class me as not a real fan deserves to be laughed out of town). It’s a pity that there’s often as much infighting among fans as against the haters and trolls. I’ve had arguments and got angry or frustrated with people or their tactics too, but I still recognise most of these people as still being fans.

Still, I do feel this site attracts some of the more intelligent and respectful fans, unlike some other sites who are ruined by obnoxious little twats.
