I'm close to labeling TMZ as a "Hate site." Remember when Paris said TMZ was not bias in their coverage about her? Well, lately, they have been bias in a negative way.

But I just read a very fascinating article about Will Smith and Hitler.

Will Smith is currently being attacked by haters and the media because of something he did not say. However, the media is encouraging the misinterpretation.

This what Will Smith said before the attacks: "[Hitler] didn't wake up going, 'Let me do the most evil thing I can do today.' ... I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was 'good.'"

This is the title of the article on TMZ.com: "Will Smith -- Hitler, Schmitler; He Wasn't That Bad"

If you read the title and Smith's comments, you'll notice that either TMZ did not read his comments or they deliberately encouraged the misinterpretation. That is not fair.

Smith said that he believes Hitler thought what he doing to Jews was right and good, but he did not say that Hitler wasn't that bad.

It's kinda like Bush or Americans who think what the US is doing in the Middle East is good.

It's natural way of thinking I guess, but the media had no right to attack Smith.

Twisting things around and deliberately promoting a falst interpretation is often the name of the game with the media (on those rare occassions when they tire of outright lying).

Will Smith is right of course about the twisted logic. People use twisted logic all the time to justify the most awful things, often aided by dogma or fundamentalism. They dehumanise others in order to make them easier to hate. History and even modern events are littered with examples of how humans do this. The way some people deliberately hate Paris and distort their false image of her at every turn is a good example too - no body count unlike Hitler, Stalin or religion's crimes perhaps but it betrays the same willingness to depersonalise someone and make them the subject of hate and blame when convenient.

I don't think anyone could ever wake up and think that murdering Jews was "good" as such but they do find ways of justifying atrocities (even HG Wells envisioned a "utopia" that he thought would make the killing of "inferior" people worthwhile and neccessary) to themselves and others.
