My copy arrived from Amazon about two days late, so my personal anniversary will be Friday I guess, lol!

Can't believe it's been that long. I remember buying it and the excitement and anticipation I felt taking it home. And then when I played it.. I was blown away! I mean, I was expecting it to be good on the basis of Stars are Blind, but I didn't expect it to be THAT good! I just couldn't stop listening to it.
I can't wait for the next one...

thewaymouth: I remembered this day the other day like it was only yesterday...

Now I had been listening to PARIS on AOL for free for 2 weeks. Mind you going in I wasn't too fond of "Stars Are Blind." But I loved looking at Paris. & I thought her "Happy Birthday" to Hugh Hefner was a gas. Anyway, first CD listen I was like, I don't like this. But then I felt compelled to listen again because this WAS after all, Paris. I'm sure most people would find this absurd but I admit I wanted to like it. Anyway, indifference greeted the 2nd listen. 3rd listen came lukewarmness. 4th, I liked it... till I had listened to it like 20 times in 2 weeks. Sometimes I still wasn't so sure, but I couldn't stop. It was in my blood & I had a high fever for her.

For the only time in my life I was the first person at the store. They had to go find the box & dig it out for me @ the local Walmart. Amazingly, with as much sexiness as there is on the entire CD, w/a fairly salacious rap on "Fightin' Over Me," there's no "explicit" label on it. But just because there are no dirty words & there's nothing graphic on it that doesn't mean Paris plays it at all safe. It's not for kids or the faint of heart or closed of mind. It's hot hot heat.

She was about to get the heat, too. Some harsh reviews (but some surprisingly fairly decent ones), but the public's very negative reaction, & the infamous store pranks. Overall PARIS was treated like dirt.

Maybe that's why she backed away from it. Must have been so painfully humiliating. But she should have toured. She would have seen the people who loved it, and that would have given her confidence to promote it more. But then I think she knows she will get some people who will show to boo her too. But so what? Most of her music is loud, and so just keep the show constantly moving, & then let the Paris lovers shout down the haters. Maybe she feared poor concert sales. But if she played small clubs in the big cities around the world, I know they would have sold out. Then you go from there.

People say she didn't even sing on it, didn't write it, she just bought her album, just like Lindsay & Ashlee, even Avril. That it's all manufactured. That it just had to be bad because of who made it.

But to me these girls take all this crap for employing the best people -- which is what most people do in life if they have the opportunity -- and then they make the best music they can. And they put their personality into it, which is larger than life. And only men by and large are allowed to do that. Instead of being celebrated like the divas they are, they are big targets.

& so, anyway, as it happens, a few hours ago this here Clash fan was looking at a family tree of punk rock. Now once I became a punk rocker back in 1980, after a while, I realize now, I began to sort of feel whatever I listened to, even watched or read & enjoyed or was turned on by was indeed, punk. Because that was my mindset, that was my approach to life, so if I liked something, it must be in some way punk.

And so what I suddenly realized today is Paris is the most punk person on the planet. She keeps bringing it despite all the hate. She keeps bringing what they hate: herself. And that is after all what the Sex Pistols did & faced. They fought fascists, and so is Paris now. That's what haters are ultimately. Her music celebrates life & fun & yes, herself, which in the eyes of most people, is a crime in & of itself. She celebrates being a woman who is free, and free to have sex, and free to be a woman in power. & that is one of the most unforgivable things in the world.

I'm punk. I like the most hated pop stars there are, Paris & her friends. They are just being themselves. They don't get the respect, the cred they deserve. To quote The Clash singing about what people were saying about the band, "they're dirty, their filthy, they're never gonna last." & so therefore they are gloriously punk.

Paris is the new back in black. & Paris is the new punk.

That is my theory, it is mine, and it belongs to me, and I own it, and what it is, too.

Now it has been almost 2 years and a half passed since the record came out.

I was so excited, when I heard, Paris releases her Debut-Single. I could'nt wait to see the Video and buy myself the single.

After I was so happy about "stars are blind", I began to wonder how the CD was going to be. And I didn't get disappointed, club bombs like "turn it up", "fightin' ove me", "i want u",, dance songs as "nothing in this world", "turn you on" were so awesome in my opinion. And the more quietly "jealousy" has the record became to a masterpiece. Meanwhile, I heard the CD over million times and I'm still not tired about it, and that's a good sign ;D
