Paris Hilton awarded with a commemorative plaque by Human Society
“We all have cats and dogs we love, and they’re animals, and seals are the same.” – Paris Hilton
By Helena Sung
Paris Hilton, seen partying and wearing cutesy, animal-themed knit caps at the Sundance Festival all weekend, actually had a reason to be there it turns out.
At a Human Society dinner honoring the documentary, “A Sealed Fate?” by Nigel Barker (photographer/judge on America’s Next Top Model) the socialite/heiress was given a commemorative plaque and recognized for her support of the “save the seals” cause.
The award is a little baffling given Paris’ well-publicized penchant for buying tiny pups from the Pets of Bel Air, a pet store in an upscale Los Angeles neighborhood known to buy from puppy mills.
It’s further perplexing given that it was the Humane Society that shut down the Pets of Bel Air in 2007, noting that the pet shop was frequented by celebrities such as Paris and Britney Spears.
What’s more, the Humane Society still displays a secret, undercover video shot at the Pets of Bel Air, in which Paris is shown buying a puppy mill pup.
It was all rather confusing until E! News included a crucial bit of information while reporting on the Humane Society award: Paris had also donated $100,000 to the organization.

oh please, this is just silly.
first of all, the customer is not responsible for where a business gets its stock, be it puppies or TVs.
and “…known to buy from puppy mills…” and “..puppy mill…” are perjorative statements that have yet to be proven. not to mention that the term used to be reserved for the worst of the worst breeding facilities, but now is used against almost any breeder that one person finds fault with… so it’s best not to throw those terms around too casually.
until proven otherwise, it’s a legitimate, legal business. also, of course she goes to said legitimate business because she has been dealing with them for years and they are reliable. plus, she has small dogs, mostly chihauhuas, so she needs to make sure any new dog is compatible with her other dogs, again why she returns to the same business. when you already have animals you do need to worry about compatibility, which is why you just can’t go to a shelter and adopt a mix breed either.
paris has been a long time animal rights supporter and has done alot of contributing and volunteer work to agencies like the ASCPA since she was a little girl. and that work is just as worthy for recognition asn an casue du jour that other celebs support worth being recognized
oh, and i also give to aspca and peta, so don’t call me an animal hater.
and as always, I still love sex!
