Paris Hilton Is Woman of the Year, According To Harvard Lampoon
It looks like Paris Hilton is really going to win an award in February.
According to Gay Weird, “the Harvard Lampoon is the world’s oldest continually published humor magazine. The Lampoon has many accomplished alumni including Conan O’Brien, John Updike and William Randolph Hearst.”
Paris Hilton will be on campus at Harvard to accept the award on February 6, and she will give a public speech to the Harvard undergraduate community. This means if you are a student at Harvard, you are invited to attend the ceremony where Paris will give her speech.
Also, as previously reported, Paris Hilton will not only promote the “Hottie and the Nottie” in Boston, but her tour stops also include the Sundance Film Festival, Dallas, Philadelphia, New York and Los Angeles! The movie will be released nationwide.

I wish I knew more about Paris’ stop in Philadelpia because I’d love to go and try to meet her or at least see her in person. I really hope more details come out because Philly is only a few hours from here. It’d suck for her to be so close but still not be able to meet her 🙁

Um,
1 Are you sure this isn’t fake? Yesterday, it was hasty pudding, which denied it. Today, it’s the Lampoon.
2. These guys are satirists. Are you sure this isn’t a joke ON Paris as opposed to an “award”? Or, will become a mean practical joke when she gets there.
3. Congrats if it’s real and also not a joke.

I’m not sure about the “hasty pudding,” but what I reported today appears to be quite accurate. Many reliable Boston news sites are reporting it.
Regent Releasing, the publisher of “Hottie” announced the award in their press release, which was released today. Gay Weird’s report was based on their article.

could be real, but it seems strange. Of course, a couple (???) of Paris’ prior movies were “national lampoon” offerings. (Pledge this?) National Lampoon was created by former members of Harvard Lampoon, so maybe it’s real and also not a joke, as Paris has connections/worked with them in the past. Hope it’s good news for her anyway.

Hasty Pudding at Harvard is one of the oldest theatrical troupes in the country.
If they are giving Paris the “woman of the Year”award it means they do see her as one of their own – in spite of what haters say. It is quite an honor.
That would also explain why Paris is opening “Hottie” in MA.
Give Paris snaps for good business strategy and marketing.
Actually, the prestigiousHarvard Business School ought to pay Paris to give a lecture in branding. This girl excels everything.

I believe that Harvard Lampoon and Hasty Pudding are two different groups. That’s the point. Hasty Pudding would be an honor, but it doesn’t look like that’s what she’s getting awarded. See admin’s link above. I also saw an article where Hasty denied that it’s giving Paris an award. It looks like it’s from Harvard Lampoon’s. As stated above, National Lampoon’s was created by harvard Lampoon alums and Paris has done National Lampoon movies in the past, so maybe that’s the connection.
Harvard Lampoon can be fairly funny, but also can be a mean-spirited group. Hopefully, they will be nice to her. Anyway, maybe it is from Hasty, but that’s doubtful.
(While Paris has had some branding success, she’s had more than a few not so hot items as well. Club Paris, others. You also can only buy her clothing line at a few Macy’s and kitson and basically can’t even buy it online unless you look long and hard, etc. So while she’s done pretty well, it might not be quite the time for her to teach a class at HBS. Additionally, there’s a link below rating her as the least liked celeb, which hurts her more than one can imagine. Michelle Rodriguez was just released early for like her 3rd/4th dui and there wasn’t a peep about it.)

Boston Globe 1/9/08
“Hasty honor for Hilton?
Paris Hilton is coming to town next month and it appears she won’t be leaving empty-handed. In making the announcement that Hilton will be in Boston on Feb. 6 to promote her film “The Hottie and the Nottie,” the studio announced that she will also receive an award from Harvard during her trip. The Hasty Pudding Theatricals are slated to fete their Woman of the Year on Feb. 7, except they haven’t announced the names of the woman and man of the year and couldn’t be reached for comment yesterday.”
I think David’s right. I fear it will only be The Lampoon. The Hasty Pudding man and woman of the year awards are presented to performers who have made a, quote, “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment.”
Maybe someday…
Scarlett Johannson won it last year. She’s won a Golden Globe & has been in a lot of movies. I’ve seen only a few of them but none of her performances to me have been that great. And she is more than two years younger than Paris. A “lasting & impressive contribution” already from Scarlett? That’s stretching it.
For Paris’s album alone, she’s contributed easily more to my world of entertainment than Scarlett. Plus, Paris is the most marvelously charismatically hot model. Never mind that Paris’s whole daily existence is like one big play, a performance for real, a human celebrity drama/comedy on video, a fabulous fantasy movie that never ends, that is played out on the world’s biggest stage.
Of course a lot of people villify for it. Man, would their lives be so boring & empty though it seems, w/out her to trash & hate on. Of course I say, celebrate her & shower her with awards, for her turning her star turns & lasting love powers on us. She IS The Woman Of The Millennium.
But I’m nuts about her. Maybe I am just plain nuts. I wish it would be The Hasty now. For one thing they have a parade, and as I live outside of Boston, and am out of work right now, I would so be there. (Fingers & toes crossed.)

Stranger things have happened at Harvard.
If Kim B. Clark can leave his position as dean of HBS to take on a job at an obscure college in Podunk Idaho, Paris Hilton can be named as ” Woman of the Year”.
Don’t be so pessimistic, David. Our fave gal is doing great.
I was at Macy’s in San Diego yesterday and purchased three new Paris Hilton tops and a jacket.
I hope Paris gets the award but if not, Paris will continue to be successful and enjoy her life. Of that we an be reasonably sure.

About that poll mentioned by Reuters – do we know any details on how scientifically it was conducted?
Was there a control group? If there wasn’t, all it means is that haters hate Paris. Duh.
We have to remember that most icons of yesteryear were quite controversial during their heydays.
Elizabeth Taylor comes to mind with her many husbands, and Grace Kelly of Monacco who had affairs with married men. At one time, Grace even had to publicly apologize when a Hollywood wife kicked up a fuss.
There is nothing new under the sun. Paris Hilton is resilient and will triumph over all her enemies.
