Paris Hilton Promoting Someone’s Else Handbags In Japan

Paris Hilton does it again! Irritating! She went to Japan this weekend to promote someone’s else handbags! She arrived at Narita Airport in Chiba Prefecture with her sister and together they promoted Samantha Thavasa’s handbags and accessories. According to fadedyouthblog, each of them were paid 500 000$.

Well, I’ll tell you something, all this promotion for other designers have no effect on me because I consider Paris Hilton a brand. I hope she doesn’t abuse this. I know it’s not a big deal, but it just seems so awkward and “anti-Paris.”

Well, everyone promotes other peoples lines. Look at Hilary Duff, Avril lavigne, Jojo, Beyonce…it comes with being a celebrity and a big name in the buisness. Paris still promotes her own invesments, but she signs on to promote others as well, its not unusual. its buisness.

I’m not sure. And we usually don’t get clear reports.

About this issue, I’m just not sure what to think. I don’t know a lot about business. I suppose it’s ok, but it’s kinda irritating.

I mean she could say “I have my own handbag line, but I also like others,” although I still think she does it for the money. Who wouldn’t, anyway!

AGree, this is only good for her. Plus, she seems to enjoy it.

They, her handlers, should work on keeping the fees quieter, whether it’s for this, Russia, New Year’s Eve, etc. An item on this site showed her declining to state how much she made to go to Russia. That was smart. However, they should try to seal up some of the leaks, which puts these numbers in the press.

Many other stars do the same as Paris, but you rarely hear of how much Gwen Stefani, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize, etc, were paid. First, the numbers for these appearance fees for almost all celebrities are normally inflated. Second, it does make her seem a bit greedy and reminds/reinforces the notion that she’s not an actress/singer, but, instead, is someone who’s paid “just to show up.” (The famous for being famous thing.)

We know better, but the public at large doesn’t. She seems to like traveling for these things, gets to do things like clothing lines and perfumes, etc. Congrats to her for finding a way to get paid to some of these things, just find a way to keep the numbers quiet.

I think this is the label that Nicky has designed bags for. Not sure if Paris has but maybe she was supporting her sister.
As a guy I don’t buy handbags, but I would say in general that as a fan I would buy something relevant to me that was a Paris Hilton product but not neccessarily something she just endorsed.
However, I certainly don’t have a problem with her doing these kind of endorsements. Half a million (if that is the figure) is a nice payday for this sort of thing, and if Paris can make money that easily, she should do it. I understand people’s concerns about the fee being leaked, but for me it’s a positive thing, as it shows the world that she’s a big star, in big demand, making big money for appearances. It doesn’t negate her music and acting work, but it increases the prestige of her image.

Actually, I believe that it does quite the opposite, especially when she just had a Rwanda trip postponed and hasn’t yet fulfilled any of the grand post jail charity promises. (The specificity of those promises was a bit of a pr mistake.)

It’s mostly the reality tv stars or hangers on, or fading boybanders, etc. that “host” parties and make continual appearances. By announcing the $$$, after awhile, it comes off as desperate, unable to make $$$ another way. Fading stars used to go on Love Boat, Fantasy Island, or game shows, now they “host”parties or make appearances because they can’t get real roles. (Not saying that’s Paris, but it could be if she does too many of these.)

The “real” “serious” etc. actressess/singers don’t b/c they make their money by acting or singing. Even then, when numbers are leaked it is a rare event or it coincides with a performance. For example, someone paid the Eagles $x millions to play at a birthday party or someone paid Madonna to perform, etc. The demand in those cases is that people want to hear these people sing or watch them perform and not just have them show up.. In Paris’ case, she didn’t sing for the Russian girl or perform, she sat in the front row and watched and then went to a store. (aka, paid for showing up.) To be honest, if they want the numbers to leak, then a little advance pr would be helpful. They could have had her perform a song and stated that the girl wanted to hear Paris sing, etc. or state that part of the $$$ was for a private performance of her songs, no matter how brief. Also, they could have stated that an actual number, not “a portion of the proceeds” will go to a halfway house for women. Because, “right now, Paris is busy, but she will build a halfway house, until then, here’s $100k from her $2mm Russia trip.” She may have actually done that, and while true charity doesn’t involve pr, she could use some good pr at the moment.

Anyway, if she wants to be taken seriously as an actress or singer, she’ll eventually have to curtail the party hosting/appearances. (Does Reese Witherspoon, etc “host” parties?) Or, at least make it seem like the people paying her are interested in her movies/music.
