Paris Hilton wants to visit Dubai again
Paris Hilton was recently interviewed by Gulf News tabloid!
Q: Model, actress, reality TV star — what hat have you enjoyed wearing most?
A: I love all of my projects and brands because they’re all very different. I always wanted to be a designer, so getting to make my designs a reality and sharing my love for clothes and accessories has been amazing. Acting and modelling were such great experiences too; I loved the shows that I’ve worked on and the modelling campaigns that I’ve done. I think the thing about all of these is that they have all allowed me to express my creativity and share my passions with others.
Q: Are you expanding your business ventures in the Middle East?
A: I definitely want to expand my businesses, even more in the Middle East. Right now, I have store openings planned for Venezuela, Columbia and the Caribbean but you never know what the future holds; it would be great to do more in the Middle East. I have been lucky to have a lot of support throughout the Middle East from my fans and I am very thankful to them.
Q: Do you still have ties to your Dubai BFF?
A: We will always be friends and I would love to catch up once I’m back in Dubai.
Q: What were your favourite things while you were here?
A: I love exploring; there are so many fun things to do in Dubai, and its always changing. Meeting different people and visiting the souqs are some of my favourite things to do. The shopping is great too. I also loved staying at The Atlantis Hotel — it’s so much fun playing on the waterslides and relaxing by the pools.
Q: Do you have any plans to come to this part of the world again?
A: I would love to come back to Dubai soon. I’m travelling a lot for my brands and new store openings, so I will be looking forward to my next trip to Dubai.
Q: Tell us about your new watch line. What inspired you to come out with a range of watches?
A: I love accessories, but I feel like watches can sometimes be forgotten. I wanted to make a line of glamorous watches that add sparkle and glitz to an outfit. I love that my watches are completely unique and not at all boring. There’s a watch for every kind of look; I wear mine with a casual outfit to dress it up or even with a dress for an event or dinner to show a little sparkle. Check out my new spells of chic at Paris Gallery.
Q: Tell us about your other new project the Paris Hilton Beach Club. When does it open?
A: The Paris Hilton Beach Club will open this year. I’m so excited! I’ve always wanted to open a hotel. My grandfather and father have taught me so much about the business and it’s in my blood. The Beach Club will be chic and so different from any other luxury hotel. I can’t wait to see what people think of it.
Q: What does it take to be a successful businesswoman?
A: Working hard and having the guts to go after what you really want make a successful businesswoman. It takes a lot of time and commitment; you definitely have to be willing to give up free time, but it’s worth it. I think if you’re dedicated and if you’re passionate about your business, others will see that and it will be a success.
Q: Whose business ethics do you admire? Anyone you admire anyone in this part of the world?
A: I definitely look up to my family when it comes to business. My grandfather created not only a hotel, but an empire and my father always taught me that hard work is what keeps a business going. My mum also is such an inspirational businesswoman. She has a line of beautiful dresses and has always been so supportive of everything I do, especially as a designer. I’m lucky that I’ve had great teachers when it comes to being an entrepreneur.
Q: How do you deal with criticism? What do you say to the people who judge you in an unflattering light?
A: There are always going to be people who want to see you fall, you just can’t pay attention to them. I know what I want and I have big dreams for my brands and different projects. I don’t ever let people’s negative comments get in the way of that. Not everyone is going to like everything you do, but if you and the people you love — do, that’s all that matters. Life is too short [to fret over such matters].
