Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend attracts 428,000 viewers
According to unofficial figures, Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend attracted 428,000 viewers on ITV2.
Brand Republic reported that “the 9pm slot was won by BBC One’s ‘Hustle, which had 5m viewers and a 20.8% share of the audience.”
American Idol, which earnt 449,000 viewers, was shown before the premiere of Paris Hilton’s new reality show on the same channel!
Hate site Daily Mail UK published an article about the ratings with the title “Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend show bombs despite wall-to-wall publicity.” Well, then, I guess American Idol’s episode bombed, too!
400,000 – 600,000 viewers seems to be the average number of viewers for channel ITV2. When the new series of American Idol debuted in mid-January, it attracted 551,000 viewers. The premiere of the show Supernatural pulled in 509 000 viewers. The first episode of drama show Bionic had ITV2’s largest audience, 2.2 million viewers.
Maybe, like the American version, word of mouth will eventually attract more viewers to Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend.

I liked it better than the first US episode. It was good. It was cool to see her house. I do bet that the doggie mansion reeks. 🙂
The ratings were at the low end of acceptable, but still acceptable. I think the media still believes in the “celebrity fascination” thing and Paris is a huge celebrity, so they think huge numbers of people will watch/buy what she’s doing. There really isn’t a celebrity fascination, there’s just more outlets (time to fill) for everything, celebrity, sports, news, etc. I don’t think there’s a “news fascination” but there’s now a million websites and all these news channels when there used to just be CNN. Look at George Clooney, almost all of his movies flop and fail to live up to expectations, except for Ocean’s 11, but the media treats him as if everyone loves his movies. They give him a pass, but they add in some Paris hate when it comes to her stuff, so you have the “BBF flopped” media mentality.
I also think Paris does entertainmen t projects only to have fun and promote her brand. I think she knows by now that her past behavior and her current image mean that a lot of people simply don’t respect, or like, her and will automatically tune out anything she does. That doesn’t matter as long as producers, studio heads, programmers continue to cast her, and the media continues to want to cover her as if she’s a huge entertainment/cultural phenomenon, I think that’s all she care’s about. I don’t think she cares about being liked or being popular or having many people watch/buy her entertainment projects.
So even if Hottie and the Nottie didn’t attract many people, she was still able to do BFFs. And even though the BFF shows are not attracting a ton of people, she’s already doing a third version , 2 in the US, 1 in the UK. I think it actually speaks to her personality that the producers and programmers that talk to her then want to cast her, even though the numbers aren’t all that high.

I agree, even if it had attracted 600 000 viewers, Daily Mail would have still called it a flop. As you said, it’s the media mentality and false expectations!
But I think she’s doing a third version of BFF because the numbers, so far aren’t excellent, but like you said, acceptable or good enough.
Some of her projects do well while others sort of fail, but when I think about it, they should all be doing very well, not because they’re Paris Hilton projects, but because they’re awesome.
The album, Repo!, BFFs and maybe even Hottie were all great and entertaining projects.

I thought the first episode of BBF was much better than the first of the American version. Omg I’m so glad that girl got kicked off to, she was so annoying I wanted to punch her. I really like the cute girl Corrie.
AND MY GOD THERE TEETH ARE SO DISGUSTING! I spend so much time with my braces off and my teeth all whitened, it’s gross!
I love this theme song, how its Paris’ and what not.

This was only the first showing,so give it a little time.
I think there will be a second BFF version in Britain too.
Paris said she has been offered to do one in every country.
I don’t think we need to fret about Paris anyymore, she seems to be having a great time and money is rolling in from all directions.

BTW, apparently Paris bought herself a $ 3.5 m dollar house in the posh Camden area outside of London.
Haters are foaming at the mouth LOL. They’re so predictable.

Ive seen it be repeated atleast 3 times from thursday-sunday so more and more viewers would have watched then, so there will be much more viewers from the other times of the same episode.

Well!! I used to think Parris was full of crap to be honest! I must eat humble pie!! I am just some London Bloke, just
a typical geezer. After watching Parris in her first programme with that bird with the black hair (didnt catch her name) the
one that walk up the red carpet, (oh, by the way, she’s the winner I think) Parris is not what she makes out, I watched
her closley, she is not a bad bird after all! She really looks
like a she needs to trust some one! I saw alot in that conversation she had in the limo. Ok Parris, you must have
bad points! christ! dont we all! After all, your Human! but I
don’t think your that bad, If anyone bothers to read this I wish her luck, there’s only one out of that lot who may foot
the bill, I’ve said who it is already. Not that my thoughts count for anyhting. I take back all what I said or thought of Parris! She’s an ok bird!

Chris Wilde, I’m glad you can see the good in her and can change your mind (something I wish more people could do).
I don’t think she’s ever made herself out to be bad though. It’s more the media and people who hate her that try to portray her that way. Paris has been coming across as sweet and friendly to people in interviews, her TV shows, meeting people in public etc for years. It’s just that a lot of people either never hear about that side (or her charity work) because of the bias against her or they just don’t want to acknowledge it.

Django yes your right, she has not made her self out to look bad, not at all, I got my words abit crossed there. I dont normaly do this sort of thing to be honest, as I have said, I am just a typical London geezer.
I just hope that Parris finds what she is looking for, as I said, when she was in the Limo, I thought I saw alot more going on in hers eyes than people would give her credit for. I could say more, but hay, who am I? blimey! I just hope it all works out for her. I have changed my mind about Parris, I’m nothing special, so I am sure other people will change their minds too. I wish her luck, I hope she has lots of fun, I also hope she finds love too. (if she’s not found it already).

Thank you for commenting, Chris Wilde.
It’s nice to see more people seeing Paris in a good or new light.
