“Repo! The Genetic Opera” celebrates its 5th anniversary
Reported by Florida Geek Scene
Fans of the cult classic hit “REPO! The Genetic Opera” will be thrilled to know that Tampa, Florida is one of four stops being made by director Darren Lynn Bousman and writer and actor Terrance Zdunich as part of a 5th anniversary tour of the movie, which first hit theaters in 2008. The event includes a screening of the movie, performance by the Hellcats Burlesque group, autograph signing and Q&A with Bousman and Zdunich.
Despite being a Box Office failure, the show found a dedicated audience among shadow casts and smaller, niche theaters making it akin to the Rocky Horror Picture Show in terms of popularity.
Since its release five years ago, not a single weekend has passed that at least one theater somewhere in the country, and probably internationally, hasn’t played the rock opera, often with a live cast reenacting scenes from the movie in front of the screen.
The movie was recently shown in Indianapolis and Scottsdale. It will be played in Atlanta tonight and Tampa on Sunday.

Really sad that there’s no sequel to this movie. It’s definitely one of my favorite PH projects.
