Stars Are Blind
It used to be that whenever people heard about Paris Hilton coming out with an album, they would become very sceptical about it. No one really believed that she could really sing, but the fact is that she was already a singer, and most people didn't know that. No one really expected something decent or good from her, but that thought suddenly changed when her first single "Stars Are Blind" released on radio and television. Many of the so-called haters were very mad about the success of this song, which was pretty interesting to watch.
Initially, her first single was suppose to be the irresistible dance track "Turn It Up", but since it was Summer, Paris thought the first single should be "Stars Are Blind" because after all, it is a very "Summery" song. So she consulted her friends, and they all agreed with her, even her label, Warner Music. Now a lot of people don't know this, but this decision angered her main producer, Scott Storch, and he mainly blamed it on Warner Music.
Nevertheless, the single was definitely a huge success for Paris. On June 2, 2006, the single premiered on New York's Z100 and on L.A's KIIS-FM. When she first heard it on the radio, she said it was the best feeling she had ever had. She called her friends to tune in. Her mother, Kathy Hilton, on the other hand, cried when she first heard it! The song was a smash hit and it was poised to be one of the most successful songs of summer 2006. It was one of the highest debuting singles in the U.S. in 2006. It debuted at #18 on Billboard Hot 100.
It also had an incredible success in Europe and worldwide as well. In Canada, Sweden and Austria for example, it climbed up to #3, and on the World Singles Top 40, it hit #6.
